At co:dify we often work with “old economy” clients that have just started to institutionalize their innovation and discovery work. The individuals in the product and catalyst teams I come in contact with during our coaching and change work are therefore all on a pretty steep learning path.
Sometimes there might already exist a few amazing people in the organization or in the teams that are already versed in innovation and product work. Yet, I observe, they often have a hard time to get their points across to colleagues as they haven’t established a shared product and innovation vocabulary (not to speak of a way of working) in the organization and as they are not trained facilitators or trainers who come with teaching didactics.
So both, the existing professionals as well as the organization’s “novices” need an agreed-upon shared body of knowledge and concepts to get their change journeys started — with as little need for in-person training and as much self-help as possible. I have the privilege to curate and recommend knowledge canons at the companies we work with. Below you can find self-development-by-reading paths as I would recommend them. I use this Mural as a base for the knowledge canons at the organizations we work with and wanted to share it with you.
We used it for example after people from a consumer electronics company graduated through our co:dify X Incubation program (after which permanent product teams formed) or when establishing a knowledge base for a new “innovation practice” at a medical devices manufacturer.
